What is Choice Direct Pay?

Choice Direct Pay is an advanced invoicing and payment solution which supports the needs and experience of the business traveler and corporate travel managers. As corporate clients are looking for ways to streamline their traveler payment processes, Choice is excited to be one of the first hotel chains to respond with an enterprise-wide, consolidated direct billing option.

Choice Direct Pay sends corporate clients one invoice for their stays across multiple Choice properties and effectively simplifies the billing and payment process. Direct Pay integrates with the choiceADVANTAGE® property management system, reducing hotel owners’ time spent on administrative tasks and creating a more seamless experience for corporate clients.

Direct Pay stays can be booked by business travelers via choicehotels.com, the mobile app, the Global Distribution System (GDS) and Choice’s call centers.


How will Choice Direct Pay drive value for corporate clients and hotel owners?

Building on our previous investments in this space, Choice Direct Pay will help us and our hotel owners better serve more business travelers and corporate accounts.

Direct client feedback has told us that the ability to consolidate charges from multiple guests and hotels into a single invoice creates a payment process that’s easier to navigate and will save time for travel managers. For hotel owners, prompt payments within 14 days enables them to spend less time manually invoicing properties, managing credit card authorization forms, and chasing down payments. It helps participating hotels capture incremental revenue gains and potentially even shift share from competitors, while addressing common pain points in the booking experience for travel managers.


What is driving Choice’s continued investments to enhance the experience of corporate clients and business travelers?

Choice is committed to meeting the needs of our corporate clients and business travelers in today’s evolving landscape. Business travel is rebounding, particularly in industries like retail, healthcare, construction, and logistics. The U.S. Travel Association reported in April that 88 percent of surveyed business travelers expect to take at least one trip in the next six months. There is optimism for continued growth throughout the end of 2022 as more workers return to the office and additional conferences return in-person, but corporate travel remains below pre-pandemic levels. Given the current environment, it’s important to keep the bookings process as seamless as possible for corporate travelers.

We are focused on long-term strategic investments in our brands and our infrastructure that make it easier to do business with us. At the same time, we’re listening closely to clients and implementing the initiatives and programs that our corporate and business travelers need. In fact, Choice was the first in the industry to launch Virtual Pay capabilities, allowing travel planners and managers to quickly and easily book stays for their clients without the guest needing to present a card at check-in. Virtual Pay is available for groups on our group management platform, simplifying the payment process and providing fewer physical touchpoints when booking. We’ve continued to implement new capabilities based on guest feedback and changing traveler sentiment, including contactless check-in, housekeeping upon request, and even a text-message based digital concierge at our Cambria Hotels brand. We’ll continue to invest in tools and offerings that drive value for our corporate clients and hotel owners.
